DOH: FDA issued EUA for COVID-19 bivalent jabs for Moderna, Pfizer

The Food and Drug Administration has issued emergency use authorization (EUA) for the bivalent vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday.

In an ambush interview, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire was asked if the EUA for the bivalent vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer had been released.

“Oo lumabas na last week. So mayroon tayong Pfizer, mayroon tayong Moderna bivalent,” Vergeire said.

(Yes it was released last week, for bivalent vaccines of Pfizer and Moderna.)

She said the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC), which advises the DOH regarding COVID-19 vaccines, has also given its approval.

The Health Department earlier said it aims to have bivalent vaccines available by the first quarter of 2023.

It said that they are already coordinating with the suppliers for the second-generation COVID-19 vaccines or bivalent vaccines, that protect individuals from the Omicron variant.

“As for the DOH, we are already coordinating with suppliers for the procurement of bivalent vaccines. We are targeting to have vaccines available by Q1 of 2023. We are also coordinating with potential donors of COVID-19 bivalent vaccines,” the DOH said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
