DOH logs 823 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday
The Department of Health on Wednesday logged 823 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country's case total to 4,058,465.
According to DOH data, Wednesday's new case tally is higher than Tuesday's 626—an increase after four straight days of new decreasing new cases.
The total number of active cases decreased by 367 cases to 16,896, the lowest in 41 days and the fifth straight day that the active tally has gone down.
The tally of recoveries increased by 1,188 cases to 3,976,427. For the fifth straight day, there have been more new recoveries logged than new infections.
The death toll increased by 15 new cases logged to 65,142, the lowest new tally in 11 days.
Nationwide COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 21.7%, with 6,011 beds occupied and 21,708 vacant.
The region with the most COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks is the National Capital Region with 5,593, followed by CALABARZON with 2,402; Central Luzon with 1,144; Western Visayas with 642; and Cagayan Valley with 574 infections.
Among cities and provinces, the area with the most new cases in the past 14 days is Quezon City with 1,301 cases, followed by the City of Manila with 786; Cavite province with 722; Laguna province with 638; and Rizal with 627. — BM, GMA Integrated News
