Some nat'l ID holders complain of disappearing photos
Some holders of national identification cards have complained about their photos on the IDs getting erased or defaced.
According to Lei Alviz's report on "24 Oras", Princess Joy Pasco is one of those who said her photo had been defaced.
Pasco said her national ID was not honored when she applied for a loan because her photo had been erased.
"Ayaw po nilang tanggapin 'yung sa ID ko... Paano po makikilalang ako po ‘yun?” she said.
John Roque said his national ID photo was also starting to be scratched out unlike his government-issued ID.
“Malayo po siguro kasi ito po nasisira po, yung lisensya po talagang ano, e. Kung valid ID po kasi talaga dapat hindi po dapat nakukutkot o kaya matibay na materyales ang ginagamit nila,” Roque said.
A PSA official said the printed national ID cards go through quality control, but the complaints of the allegedly defective National ID cards are currently being investigated.
“Please surrender yung physical card para matignan namin baka may portion ng production, medyo may issue. Mga first quarter next year, magiging in place na yung replacement procedure namin,” said Fred Sollesta, Officer in Charge, Deputy National Statistician Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registry Office.
While there is still no replacement available, they can request an ePhilID or the digital version of the National ID.
“Medyo natagalan ng kotnti ang pagdeliver ng ating physical card, hindi siya talag amasabi na pourely digital. kasi pag digital mastore mo yan sa phone, sa devices. Yung ibang kababayan antin lalo yung mga low income families, wala silang connectivity, walang gadgets to store that mobile version ng ID,” Sollesta said.
The PSA said that over 75.5 million Filipinos have been registered in the National ID system, while 27.1 million have had their National ID printed and 20.3 have been delivered. For ePhillDs, 19 million have been generated, and 10.3 million have been printed and delivered. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
