86% of TESDA graduates have jobs, says Bertiz

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Tuesday said the employment rate of its graduates has reached 86%.

"Natutuwa din po tayo dahil napakataas din po ng percentage ng ating employment rate (We are glad because the percentage of our employment rate is really high),” TESDA deputy director general Aniceto "John" Bertiz III said at a televised public briefing.

“Sumasampa na po tayo sa 86% lahat po ng graduate ng TESDA ay nakakakuha na po ng trabaho hindi lamang dito sa ating bansa pati na rin po sa ibang bansa,” he added.

(At least 86% of our graduates got jobs not only here in our country but also abroad.)

Bertiz said TESDA is prioritizing producing workers in the field of agriculture, construction, information technology,  business process outsourcing, healthcare, and tourism.

He added that TESDA is now pushing courses geared towards the fourth industrial revolution and providing microcredentials for job applicants.

On December 7, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that the number of unemployed Filipinos slightly decreased in October.

“Ang unemployed persons o bilang ng mga nasa labor force na walang trabaho o negosyo nitong Oktubre 2022 ay nasa 2.24 million,” said PSA chief and National Statistician Dennis Mapa citing the October 2022 Labor Force Survey.
