Marcos appoints ex-Ilocos Norte mayor as NIA administrator
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed former Piddig, Ilocos Norte mayor Eduardo Guillen as the acting administrator of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).
This was confirmed by Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil on Monday in a message to reporters.
Guillen replaced former NIA administrator Benny Antiporda who was placed by the Ombudsman under a six-month preventive suspension following the administrative complaints filed by several NIA employees against him.
“Pursuant to the provisions of the existing laws, you are hereby appointed acting administrator and member, Board of Directors, National Irrigation Administration, vice Benny D. Antiporda,” the paper read.
GMA News Online sought Antiporda for comment but he has yet to respond as of posting time. Antiporda previously called on Marcos to look into his suspension.—Joahna Lei Casilao/AOL, GMA Integrated News
