PCUP launches housing, livelihood programs
The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) on Wednesday launched four programs to celebrate Urban Poor Solidarity Week: Piso Ko Bahay Mo; the Lingkod Agapay Maralita Program; the CUP Goodwill Ambassadors Program; and CUP Satellite Offices.
Piso Ko, Bahay Mo is a housing facilitation and linking program to help residents whose homes have been demolished. The commission said it will work the private sector to provide land and houses for them.
The Lingkod Agapay Maralita Program aims to provide opportunities for the urban poor to earn money through jobs and livelihood with the help of the private sector.
With the CUP Goodwill Ambassadors Program, the Commission invites volunteers in the field of business, academe, and non-government organizations to provide their services to the urban poor.
PCUP also aims to establish CUP Satellite Offices so that the urban poor can easily access assistance and services from the Commission.
The Commission, which celebrated its 36th anniversary, also recognized urban poor communities, local governments, non-government organizations, and agencies for their work for the population under poverty. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA Integrated News
