SC to require students to take CLEP before bar exams

Law students will be required to take the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) before taking the Bar Examination starting next year, according to Raffy Tima's report on "24 Oras" on Monday.

CLEP is a training program that allows students to help resolve cases and legal issues under the supervision of a lawyer. It will be mandated for completion during their last year in law school.

"Sila ay humahawak na rin, tumutulong sa paghawak ng kaso at mga usaping legal under the supervision of a lawyer," said lawyer and UP CLEP director Theodore Te.

Last week, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said CLEP will increase public access to legal services.

“Indeed, through the… CLEP we have increased access to justice and gave the poor and marginalized sectors of society an assured place in our judicial system,” said Gesmundo. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
