Cavite 7th district special election set for February 2023
The special election in Cavite’s 7th Congressional District to fill the seat vacated by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla will be held on February 25, 2023, the Commission on Elections announced Tuesday.
“Automated elections po ang gagamitin natin dito so kami po ay handang mag imprenta ng balota na automated. Gagamit po ng vote-counting machines dito po sa 7th District ng Cavite,” said Comelec spokesman Rex Laudiangco.
(The elections will be automated and we are ready to print out the ballots. We will use vote-counting machines for the 7th District in Cavite.)
He said candidates may start filing their certificates of candidacy on December 5.
In July, the House of Representatives adopted a resolution calling on the Commission on Elections to hold a special election in the seventh district of Cavite to fill the seat vacated by Remulla.
Baliuag plebiscite
Meanwhile, according to Laudiangco, the plebiscite that would decide whether the municipality of Baliuag, Bulacan will be converted into a component city will be held from December 17, 2022 to December 24, 2022.
“Pagbobotohan po ng mga kababayan natin sa Baliuag, Bulacan kung sila po ay pumapayag na maging component city itong municipality,” he said.
(The residents of Baliuag, Bulacan will decide if they want the municipality to become a component city.)
Meanwhile, Laudiangco announced that voter registration will resume on December 12, 2022 and will last until January 31, 2023.
Overseas voter registration will be held starting December 9, 2022, while overseas voting will be conducted starting April 30, 2025. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
