Luzon grid placed under Yellow, Red alerts —NGCP
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will be placing the Luzon grid under Yellow and Red alerts on Monday due to low power supply.
The Luzon Grid will be on Yellow alert on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to a report by Allan Gatus on Super Radyo dzBB on Monday morning.
It will then be placed on Red alert for an hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A Yellow alert indicates that the grid has thin reserves based on supply and demand. Meanwhile, a red alert status means that there is zero ancillary service or that a generation deficiency exists.
The NGCP said the available capacity was seen at 10,708 megawatts versus the peak demand of 10,246 megawatts.
Six power plants were also on forced outage, while three were running on derated capacities, resulting in 2,648 megawatts lost from the grid. —Giselle Ombay/KG, GMA Integrated News
