Average life expectancy in Philippines is 71 years - World Bank
The Philippines ranked between 132 and 144 among the 200 countries and territories with the longest average life expectancy, a study by the World Bank (WB) has shown.
Data from the WB said the average life expectancy of Filipinos in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, was 71 years, two years less than the global average of 73, as Cedric Castillo reported on "24 Oras" on Tuesday.
The study found that the average life expectancy in Hong Kong and Japan was 85 years—the highest in the world—while it was only 54 years in the Central African Republic.
For 2022, the average life expectancy is 71 years for Filipino men and 78 years for Filipino women, according to forecasts made by the Philippine Statistics Authority. —Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
