Marcos, First Lady join APEC leaders in audience with Thai King, Queen
BANGKOK, Thailand — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and the First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, along with global leaders and their spouses, were granted a royal audience on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
According to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS), the royal audience was granted by King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall.
No other details were immediately available.
Thailand is host to this year’s APEC Summit, where economic leaders have gathered from across the region to discuss revitalizing recovery, reviving growth, and integrating inclusivity.
The APEC’s 21 members include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam.
Marcos is set to cap off his last day in Bangkok on November 19, with bilateral meetings with his counterparts from New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand.
He is also set to have a business call with the Siam Cement Group and meet with the Filipino community in Bangkok before he flies back to Manila in the evening.
Speaker Martin G. Romualdez on said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. did well in his initial outing at the APEC Summit.
“I think the President does very well in this fora, in these types of fora where there are exchanges, and in his insights into the conditionality in the Philippines whether it be economic or even political,” Romualdez said.
Marcos arrived in Bangkok on Wednesday evening, accompanied by the First Lady .
He had bilateral meetings with counterparts from China, Saudi Arabia, and France. —NB, GMA Integrated News
