Marcos extends condolences to South Korea over deadly crowd crush

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday extended his condolences to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and the entire people of South Korea over the deadly crowd crush nearly two weeks ago.

"President Yoon, before I start, on behalf of the Filipino people, allow me to extend my condolences to you and all the people of South Korea for the shocking tragedy in Itaewon,” Marcos said during his intervention at the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit in Cambodia.

More than 150 fatalities were recorded following a Halloween crush in the popular Itaewon district of Seoul on October 29.

South Korea had declared a national week of mourning until November 5, with their flags at half-mast.

Meanwhile, Marcos expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Korea for being home to nearly 50,000 Filipinos.

"I cannot end my talk without thanking the Republic of Korea," he said. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
