NDRRMC: 3.3 million persons affected by Paeng's onslaught


The number of families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has reached 966,824, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Wednesday night.

This development brought the number of persons affected to 3,323,188.

According to the NDRRMC’s 6 p.m. situation report on Nov. 2, the reported deaths went up to 122 with 92 already confirmed and 30 still being validated.

The NDRRMC said most of the deaths were from the BARMM with 61 confirmed dead, and Region Six  with 28 confirmed dead.

The agency said 45,841 families or 165,688 persons have been served inside 2,655 evacuation centers while 271,249 families or 684,213 persons have been reached outside the evacuation facilities.

At least 103 were injured while 36 individuals are still missing, according to the NDRRMC.

A total of 12,564 damaged houses have been reported in Regions 1, 2, 3, MIMAROPA, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, CARAGA, BARMM, and CAR.

Of which, 10,345 houses were partially damaged, while 2,219 were totally damaged amounting to P12,761,000.

The NDRRMC said the estimated cost of damage in agriculture has reached P1,627,068,536. 39.

Meanwhile, the estimated cost of damage in infrastructure totals to P1,033,044,801.73 in Regions 1, 2, MIMAROPA, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and CAR.

The agency said a total of 281 cities or municipalities were declared under the state of calamity

At least P92,663,000.89 assistance have been provided to Regions 1, 2, 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, CARAGA, CAR, and NCR.

It added a total of 476 road sections and 120 bridges were affected, of which 254 roads and 24 bridges were now passable.
