COA chief Cordoba: No more overworked auditors
Newly appointed chairperson Gamaliel Cordoba of the Commission on Audit (COA) on Thursday called on the agency's employees to ensure efficient use of public resources in the performance of their duties.
At the same time, he vowed to fill up the vacancies in the commission to ease the load of overworked auditors.
Cordoba, former chairperson of the National Telecommunications Commission, met with the COA employees during his first flag ceremony on Thursday.
"Resources must be spent by the government economically, efficiently and expeditiously. The Commission should facilitate this by enabling agencies to do their jobs better," he said.
"We will be partners in rebuilding our country. We will be enablers,” he added.
Cordoba also said the commission should constantly strive to earn the public’s trust by upholding an honest, professional and dignified approach in performing its mandate.
In addition, he vowed to look after the personnel welfare of COA employees under his watch by ensuring that state auditors won't be overworked by filling up vacant positions and training auditors to strengthen audit capability compliant with international standards.
