PNP on full alert for long Undas holiday weekend
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it would be on full alert to secure the incoming long weekend including the observation of All Saints’ Day on November 1.
At a press briefing, PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said the police will make early mobilizations and preparations ahead of “Undas.”
“The entire Philippine National Police will go on full alert status to ensure the availability of police personnel and resources for public safety and security operations for this forthcoming four-day holiday,” he said.
Azurin said that 85% of PNP personnel will be deployed.
Police Regional Offices (PRO) and units are directed to make their presence felt and be vigilant while serving and protecting the motorists and commuters who will head for the provinces to visit deceased loved ones.
Police will be present along travel routes, transport terminals, public cemeteries, and other places of convergence, Azurin said.
The PNP reminded the public to take necessary precautions when leaving their residences unattended during the long weekend.
“Travelling homeowners are encouraged to coordinate with their barangay or neighborhood authorities for special security,” Azurin said.
At a public briefing, PNP Public Information Office chief Police Colonel Redrico Marananan said the PNP is ready to provide security during Undas.
He added that the police are also coordinating with force multipliers and local government units.
So far, Maranan said the PNP has not received information on any serious security threats during the occasion. — DVM, GMA News
