PRC: 23 more licensure examinations to be held this year

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said on Friday that at least 23 more licensure examinations would be held this year.

At a public briefing, PRC National Capital Region (NCR) Director Lord Louis Valera said at least 71 licensure examinations were given since January, with 23 more examinations to be held from October 21 to December 22.

“Doon sa binanggit ko na 71 licensure examinations, mayroon 116,302 examinees na pumasa ito ay kinabibilangan ng architects, engineers, nurses, physicians, social workers at teachers at iba pang mga profession,” he said.

(In the 71 licensure examinations conducted, 116,302 examinees passed the examinations for architects, engineers, nurses, physicians, social workers, and teachers, among others.)

Valera said that the PRC was also prioritizing health-related licensure examinations as the country needed more healthcare workers amid the pandemic.

“Hindi lamang Pilipinas ang nangangailangan ng karagdagang health professionals, [kaya] si PRC binigyang prioridad ang ating mga profession under the health sector,” he said.

(The Philippines isn't the only one that needs more health professionals. So the PRC is prioritizing health-related licensure examinations.)

“Nagkaroon na tayo ng nursing licensure examination for this year noong May at mayroon pa rin sa November ulit na gagawin. Para sa mga doctor natin, yung physician licensure exam natin nagkaroon na tayo noong March at may isang batch na mangyayari ngayong October 21, 22, 28, and 29,” he added.

(We already had the nursing licensure examination for this year in May, and we have to do it again in November. For our doctors, we had our physician licensure exam in March and there will be another batch this October 21, 22, 28, and 29.)

Meanwhile, the PRC NCR director said there were no canceled licensure examinations this year as the country transitioned to the new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ngayong taon na ito, wala na tayong nacancela na exams kasi unti unting bumalik na ang normalcy at confident na rin ang ating mga examinees ganun din ang ating examination personnel at meron na tayong vaccines at booster na rin ang karamihan at alam na rin mas naging maingat na rin ang mga tao,” he said.

(We did not cancel any examinations this year because the country slowly returned to the new normal and our examinees are confident, as well as our examination personnel. And we now have vaccines and boosters. Most of them also became vigilant.)

Valera said that they also strictly implement health and safety protocols during examinations to ensure the safety of the examinees and the personnel. — DVM, GMA News
