Philippines logs 2,459 new COVID-19 cases, active tally hits 26,399
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday logged 2,459 new COVID-19 infections as the active tally rose to 26,399.
This was the second day straight of more than 2,000 new cases reported.
According to the DOH’s data, the active tally climbed to 26,399 from 25,293 on Thursday.
The new cases also brought the country’s caseload to 3,978,354.
The DOH said the National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest cases in the recent two weeks with 11,063, followed by Calabarzon with 5,397, Central Luzon with 2,864, Davao Region with 1,446, and Western Visayas with 1,089.
A total of 1,328 new patients recovered from the illness. The total recovery tally is now at 3,888,516.
Meanwhile, the death toll also climbed to 63,439 with 36 new fatalities.
At least 15,517 individuals were tested, while 340 testing laboratories submitted data as of Thursday, October 13.
The bed occupancy in the country decreased to 25.2%, with at least 7,217 beds occupied and 21,406 were vacant as of Wednesday, October 12.—LDF, GMA News
