Philippines records 1,554 new COVID-19 infections; active tally down to 25,004


The Philippines on Tuesday recorded 1,554 new COVID-19 infections, while the active tally went down to 25,004.

The numbers were lower than Monday's 2,106 new cases and 26,014 active infections, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health (DOH).

This came after five days straight of more than 2,000 new cases recorded.

The DOH said the new infections also pushed the nationwide tally to 3,971,455.

In the recent two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest infections with 11,347, followed by Calabarzon with 5,307, Central Luzon with 2,712, Davao Region with 1,417, and Western Visayas with 946.

The Health department registered 2,446 new recoveries bringing the recovery tally to 3,883,122.

The country’s death toll, on the other hand, also climbed to 63,329 with 32 new fatalities.

The latest data also showed at least 7,307 beds were occupied, while 21,208 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country stood at 25.6% as of Sunday, October 9.

The DOH said a total of 15,359 individuals were tested, while 337 testing labs submitted data as of Monday, October 10.—AOL, GMA News
