DILG's Abalos tests positive for COVID-19

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos said on Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19.

“I am currently at home in isolation and working remotely while strictly following recommended protocols, including health and safety procedures," Abalos said in a statement.

"I am grateful to have been fully vaccinated with booster. I am asymptomatic and feeling well as of the moment.”

Abalos added that he had been tested for COVID-19 as this was a requirement for a meeting he was scheduled to attend at Malacañang on Monday.

The results came out at 9:12 p.m. on Sunday.

Abalos directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct contact tracing to notify his direct contacts including those who attended Sunday's press conference in Camp Crame with him.

“I am also humbly appealing to everyone who I came across over the past two days to monitor yourselves for COVID-19 symptoms and promptly get tested and isolate away from others once symptoms develop,” he added. — DVM, GMA News
