NBI to probe killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid, says Remulla
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will investigate the death of radio broadcaster Percy Lapid who was attacked by unidentified assailants on Monday evening.
“The NBI is on the case,” Remulla told the reporters.
Based on reports, Lapid was shot dead by two suspects onboard a motorcycle on Monday evening in Las Piñas City.
The broadcaster, whose real name was Percival Mabasa, was the host of the online broadcast program "Percy Lapid Fire" at DWBL 1242 and a columnist for Hataw.
Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast at the time of the incident, according to his relative.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police said a special investigation task force has also been created to investigate the fatal shooting.
The broadcaster’s family expressed their grief and anger over the killing of Lapid, which they called “brutal and brazen.”—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
