Remulla gives himself ‘very good grade’ for first 88 days in DOJ: ‘We’re not stopping’

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla on Wednesday said he would give himself and the Department of Justice (DOJ) a "very good grade" for his first 88 days in office.

Remulla made the remark during a briefing when asked about the agency’s accomplishments in the administration's first 100 days of office.

“I would give myself, I would give the DOJ a very fair grade, a very good grade for the past 88 days,” the Justice secretary said.

“But we’re not stopping. We’re not dressing in any laurels here. We know that this is a tough job ahead for us for the next months that we have left… We will still continue doing our job in the way that we know best,” he added.

Remulla said that the department is working on improving the systems of the National Bureau of Investigation as well as the Bureau of Corrections.

“We are trying to decongest the jails. We have released prisoners and there are more for release and for pardon and parole and probation,” he said.

“We’re working on the transfer of the Bilibid. Actually, the transfer of the maximum security prison, or what we call the supermax, into another area. Far from Manila,” he added.

He said he also believes that the confidence of the public in law enforcement has returned after the alleged reports of abductions.

“I think that the confidence of people has returned to our law enforcers after all of these videos showed up. The law enforcers became more visible,” he said. — BM, GMA News
