P23M worth of infra damage reported in 3 regions due to Karding —NDRRMC
A total of P23,050,000 worth of damage was reported in Ilocos, Mimaropa, and Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) due to Typhoon Karding, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.
In its latest report, the NDRRMC said Cordillera reported the most damage so far with P19.6 million, followed by Mimaropa with P3 million and Ilocos with P450,000.
For agriculture, a total of P108,837,409.87 worth of damage was reported in Ilocos, Calabarzon, Bicol, and CAR.
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), meanwhile, reported a total of P1.3 million worth of damage in Bicol.
From three, the number of reported missing persons due to Karding increased to five, the NDRRMC said, while the reported death toll remained at eight.
A total of 3,068 houses were damaged — 2,437 partially and 631 631 totally — in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, and Cordillera, according to the NDRRMC.
The council added that 157,023 people or 39,893 families were affected by the typhoon in 1,318 barangays in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and CAR.
A total of 37,135 people or 8,825 families are staying inside 574 evacuation centers, while 15,759 individuals or 3,778 families are staying in other places.
Flooding incidents were reported in 81 areas in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Bicol. A landslide was also reported in Calabarzon. At least 10 bridges and eight roads are still not passable due to Karding.
Power outages were experienced in 115 cities and municipalities, of which 41 have already been restored. Communication issues are still being experienced in two areas in Ilocos and Calabarzon.
At least 61 of 67 ports that suspended trips have already resumed operations. A total of 613 passengers, 190 rolling cargoes, five vessels, and a motorbanca are still stranded in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the National Capital Region.
Nueva Ecija, with 32 cities and municipalities, is under state of calamity due to the effects of the typhoon, the NDRRMC said.
A total of P5,532,150.18 of assistance has been provided to affected residents in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Bicol, and Cordillera. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
