NDRRMC activates Emergency Operations Center, goes on red alert for Karding
As Tropical Storm Karding intensified slightly while moving west-southwest with sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Saturday
The NDRRMC was put on red alert on Friday due to Karding.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), meanwhile, advised local governments whose localities are likely to be affected by the storm to preemptively evacuate communities in high-risk areas.
A P517.03 million Quick Response Fund (QRF) was also on standby at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office.
Some 542,950 Family Food Packs (FFPs) worth P323.84 million and P674.39 million worth of other relief items have also been prepositioned.
Meanwhile, Tropical Wind Cyclone Signal No. 1 (TWCS) was hoisted over the following areas:
- Isabela
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Quirino
- the southern portion of mainland Cagayan (Peñablanca, Tuguegarao City, Iguig, Solana, Tuao, Enrile)
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Aurora
- the northern and eastern portions of Nueva Ecija (Carranglan, Pantabangan, Gabaldon, Bongabon, Laur, Rizal, San Jose City, Lupao, Llanera, General Mamerto Natividad, Palayan City, General Tinio)
