Marcos talks economy, investments with US-ASEAN business council members

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. met with the members of the United States-ASEAN Business Council and the US Chamber of Commerce in New York to discuss strengthening economic and investment agendas.

On Facebook post, Marcos said on Thursday that he discussed with the business council members new paths for “furthering mutually beneficial economic and investment agendas."

“As we reopen our borders amid the pandemic, we remain firm in our belief that stronger ties with US and ASEAN investors will lead us to a more resilient economy,” Marcos said.

Marcos met with key officials from the United Kingdom and Japan, as well as other economic leaders, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

During his address at the UNGA on Wednesday (Philippine time), the chief executive said there is a need to take concrete measures towards a modern and resilient agriculture as food is not just a trade commodity nor a livelihood.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles earlier announced that Marcos is also set to meet with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Marcos left Manila on Sunday for a working visit to the US and will be back in the Philippines on September 24. —Richa Allyssa Noriega/NB, GMA News
