3,119 new COVID-19 cases logged, active cases rise to 27,686


The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday logged 3,119 fresh coronavirus cases—the highest daily number of new infections recorded in the country since September 10.

This comes after eight straight days of fewer than 3,000 new cases, bringing the total nationwide tally to 3,923,727.

Based on the latest DOH bulletin, active COVID-19 cases in the country likewise increased to 27,686 from the 26,401 reported on Sunday.

It is the highest number of active infections in 22 days and marks the second straight day of increasing active cases.

Recovered COVID-19 patients were up by 1,711 to 3,833,454 — the lowest figures in three day. It is also the fifth straight day that the monitored new recoveries are less than the new COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll also increased to 62,587.

Metro Manila remained the region with the highest fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days with 11,327. It was followed by Region IV-A with 4,030; Region III with 2,376; Region XI with 1,280 and Region VI with 942.

The country’s bed occupancy remains at low risk at 27.5 percent. It means that of the total 28,564 hospital beds nationwide, 7,864 are occupied while 20,700 remains vacant.
