DepEd: Teachers to get P1K incentive on National Teachers’ Month
The Department of Education (DepEd) said Thursday that teachers will receive a P1,000 incentive as part of the celebration of the National Teachers’ Month.
DepEd spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa announced this at a press conference, saying they will carry on with the provision of the World Teacher's Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) to qualified public school teachers.
“Yes po. We will continue with the P1,000 incentive para sa pagpupugay sa ating mga teachers [to honor our teachers],” he said.
Poa added that the DepEd will hold a program for the educators on National Teachers' Day slated on October 5.
During the kick-off event for National Teachers' Month on Tuesday, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte commended teachers for their sacrifices and hard work to provide education to the youth, may it be in-person or online.
She said that she was impressed by the strength of the teachers’ hearts as they find ways to deliver modules, help facilitate community learning hubs, and provide additional learning resources to children despite the challenges faced by the education sector due to the pandemic. — RSJ, GMA News
