CIDG identifies 5 who may shed light on ‘forgery’ of Marcos’ signature

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has identified five persons whom it said could shed light on the alleged forgery which made it appear that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed a commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

In a statement, CIDG director Police Brigadier General Ronald Lee said three of the five have already received subpoenas. It is still determining the addresses of the two others.

Lee said that all pieces of information will be subject to further evaluation and validation. He also asked the individuals involved in the issue to cooperate with the investigation.

“Our appeal continues for those who may have information about the said incident," Lee said.

The issue of the forged signature came to light after reporters asked the Palace on Tuesday for confirmation on whether a new BI commissioner had been appointed.

But upon checking and verification, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said there was no such appointment document signed by Marcos.

On Wednesday, Cruz-Angeles said that the National Bureau of Investigation had started its own probe on the BI appointment document. —NB, GMA News
