DILG: Marcos wants evacuation centers identified amid Florita onslaught
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday directed the identification of available evacuation centers amid the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita.
According to Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, this was among the President's directives during their Cabinet meeting.
Abalos also guaranteed that food and water supplies were available for families affected by Florita.
"Kanina ho galing kami sa Cabinet meeting, ito nga ang binilin niya, so ensured na talagang naka-monitor at naka-identify na po ang mga evacuation centers dito and just like the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), we are in constant touch with our local government unit partners na nasa baba po," Abalos said at a Palace briefing.
(We came from a Cabinet meeting and this was among his directives. So it's ensured that our evacuation centers are identified and just like the DSWD, we are in constant touch with our local government unit partners on the ground.)
"Lahat naman po ito, in place naman po 'yung gagawin po rito. Of course, nandiyan na 'yung pagkain, nandiyan na 'yung tubig, lahat po 'yan nakahanda na rin," he added.
(Everything is in place including food and water. Everything is ready.)
Due to Florita, Marcos suspended government work and classes at all levels in public schools from Tuesday until Wednesday in Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan.
According to the Office of the Press Secretary, suspension of private school classes and private office work was left to the discretion of their respective heads.
