Aurora school to refrain from using 6 classrooms near fault line
As a safety precaution against earthquakes, six classrooms in Dinalungan, Aurora which were near a fault line would not be used when classes open on Monday.
According to a “24 Oras Weekend” report on Saturday, the Mariano D. Marquez Memorial High School also chose to refrain from using the rooms to ease the worries of parents.
Nevertheless, the local government unit assessed the school to be safe.
Furthermore, there were a sufficient number of classrooms for the opening of classes on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Magat Salamat Elementary School in Manila made last-minute preparations for the opening of classes.
According to Vonn Aquino's Saturday "24 Oras Weekend" report, last-minute touches were added to the Kinder and Grade 3 classrooms.
The Magat Salamat Elementary School's quadrangle and stage were also prepared for Monday's flag ceremony.
Marks were made on the floor for social distancing, while hand washing areas in the different areas of the school were also put in place.
Furthermore, the school allocated separate entrance and exit gates to avoid confusion among the students.
Among the guidelines to be enforced are temperature checks on students who will also have to wash their hands upon arriving at the entrance.
An isolation room was also set up for students with high temperatures and those who will have COVID-19 symptoms.
“Halimbawa pumasok ako ng walang lagnat, biglang tumaas yung temperature. Yung teacher po kasi kukunin na yung contact number nila yung profile ng bata and then coordinated po kami sa aming teacher clinic at school nurse papasundo po sila,” Marilou Calma, principal of Magat Salamat Elementary School, said.
(For example, if I come in without a fever, then my temperature suddenly rises. So the teacher will get their parents’ contact number and then we will coordinate with our teacher clinic and the school nurse to pick them up.)
Blended learning schedules and full-distance learning would also continue until October.
The Department of Education, however, said that starting November 2, all public and private schools in the country should have transitioned to five days of in-person classes. — DVM, GMA News
