Villanueva tests positive for COVID-19

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva has tested positive for COVID-19.

Villanueva disclosed this Thursday night after his office shared with the media a copy of his RT-PCR test result. The senator underwent the test earlier in the day.

Villanueva is the fifth senator to be infected with COVID-19 in the 19th Congress. The other senators who tested positive were Imee Marcos, Grace Poe, Alan Peter Cayetano and Cynthia Villar.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri has ordered stricter health and safety protocols inside the Senate building in Pasay City to curb the virus transmission.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA News
