Philippines posts 3,758 new COVID-19 cases; active tally rises to 36,115
The Philippines on Thursday registered 3,758 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 3,844,708.
Based on the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest data, the fresh new cases brought the country’s active tally to 36,115, up by 1,014 from the 35,101 active cases reported on Wednesday.
The DOH said the National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with number of cases in the recent two weeks with 14,779, followed by Calabarzon with 9,147, Central Luzon with 5,027, Western Visayas with 2,638, and Cagayan Valley with 2,206.
Additional 2,703 recoveries reported increasing recovery tally to 3,747,372, while at least 48 new fatalities were recorded bringing the death toll to 61,221.
At least 8,906 beds were occupied, while 20,088 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country slightly decreased to 30.7% as of Tuesday, August 16.
