Jessica Soho, retired officers remember FVR on last day of his wake
Kapuso news pillar Jessica Soho was among those who paid their last respects at the wake of the late former President Fidel V. Ramos on Monday.
“He gave me a lot of access in the various stages of his career. From being the chief of staff to the secretary of defense to president (until his) retirement," Soho said on Raffy Tima's report on "24 Oras".
"Always very accessible and I think, mataas ang respeto niya sa media,” she added.
(He had a high regard for the media.)
Retired police general Vidal Querol recalled how Ramos took care of the soldiers and the police.
“Isang indikasyon ng paghawak n'ya sa larangan ng mga naka-uniporme, mga sundalo't saka mga pulis ang kanilang hinaing, ika nga eh well-being, ay inaasikaso ng ating pangulong Fidel V. Ramos,” said Querol, the chairman of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Assocation.
(One indication of his handling of the uniformed personnel, of soldiers and the police, is that he took care of their well-being.)
Former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Undersecretary Rolly Tungpalan described the late former president as a “leader by example”.
“He would wake up very early. He would send us his clippings with a red pen. You know the assignments that he gives,” Tungpalan said.
Ramos is set to be accorded a state funeral on Tuesday, August 9. He will be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The state funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m.
It will be streamed on the FVR Legacy Page on Facebook as well as the Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM)’s Facebook and YouTube pages. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA News
