Philippines logs 27,331 new COVID-19 cases from August 1-7, higher by 13%
The Philippines has logged 27,331 new COVID-19 cases from August 1 to August 7, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.
According to its weekly COVID-19 case bulletin, the DOH said this is 13% higher compared to the number of cases recorded the week before which had 24,100.
The daily average increased to 3,904 from the previous 3,443.
The agency also verified 80 additional deaths, 32 of which occurred from July 25 to August 7.
Data also showed that 772 severe and critical cases are currently admitted.
Of the 2,514 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 624 or 24.8% are occupied. Meanwhile, 6,648 or 30.9% of the 21,548 non-ICU COVID-19 beds are in use.
There were 76 new severe and critical cases. This was 0.28% of the new cases reported for the week.
Vaccination updates
A total of 71,898,721 individuals or 92.06% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Of this number, 198,109 were vaccinated from August 1 to August 7.
Meanwhile, at least 6.7 million senior citizens, or 77.90% of the target population have also received their primary vaccine series.
The DOH also noted that 16,603,097 individuals have received their booster shots. Of which, 387,631 were boosted last week. —NB, GMA News
