Ateneo launches fund-raising drive for family of slain security guard

Ateneo de Manila University has launched a donation drive to help the family of Jeneven Bandiala, the school security guard who was one of the three individuals killed at a shooting incident inside the campus on Sunday.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the university shared a “scan-to-pay” donation channel to assist his family.

The list of supported payment options include GCASH, GrabPay, BDO Online, PNB Online, BPI Online, RCBC Online, and UnionBank Online among others, according to Ateneo.

“All donations will be given to Jeneven's family. We thank you in advance for your help,” the university said.

“Once again, we condemn this act of violence, and we hope justice is served. Let us keep Jeneven, as well as Rose Furigay and Victor Capistrano, in our prayers,” it added.

In a separate Facebook post, the Ateneo Law Student Council also said it is raising funds for Bandiala's family.

“The donations received will aid in the funeral and burial services of Sir Jeneven. The collections will also help support his family as they recover from this devastating time,” it said.

Former Lamitan mayor Rose Furigay, Furigay's aide Victor Capistrano, and Bandiala were killed at a shooting incident that took place in front of the Areté building, where the law school's graduation was scheduled to take place last Sunday.

Furigay's daughter Hannah, a graduating law student, was wounded and brought to the hospital.

Meanwhile, complaints of murder and frustrated murder were filed on Monday against suspect Chao-Tiao Yumol, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
