DOH: Gov't to launch drive for 23M booster shots in next 3 months

The Department of Health, along with the local government units, is set to launch on July 26 a campaign that aims to administer booster shots against COVID-19 to 50% of the country's eligible population in the next three months.

At a briefing, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the campaign dubbed “PinasLakas” aims to give booster shots to 23.8 million Filipinos within the first 100 days of the Marcos administration.

Further, Vergeire said the campaign also aims to vaccinate 90% of the target senior-citizen population group within the same period.

DOH said on Tuesday that the government needs to vaccinate 397,334 individuals daily for 60 days to achieve the target.

Vergeire pointed out that through the PinasLakas drive, the government will make the vaccines “more accessible and available” in markets, places of worship, malls, transport terminals, offices, factories, plazas, and schools.

She said that home visits will be implemented by the government to ramp up the vaccination events among senior citizens or the A2 population.

Based on latest data, at least 71.3 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while some 15.5 million individuals received their booster shots. —LBG, GMA News
