SWS: Duterte's gets ‘very good’ satisfaction rating as term ends
Former president Rodrigo Duterte received a “very good” net satisfaction rating in his last two months in office, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Wednesday.
The April 19-27, 2022 survey showed Duterte's net satisfaction rating at +65, classified as "very good."
This was derived from the 78 percent respondents surveyed who said they were satisfied with Duterte's performance and the 13 percent who said they were dissatisfied. Around 9 percent of the respondents were undecided.
Compared to December 2021, gross satisfaction with President Duterte rose by 3 points from 75 percent, gross undecided stayed at 9 percent, and gross dissatisfaction fell by 2 points from 15 percent, the polling firm said.
Duterte ended his term on June 30, 2022.
The nationwide survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews of 1,440 adults of aged 18 and above. It was non-commissioned.
Its sampling error margins are ±2.6% for national percentages and ±5.2% for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
‘Very good’ in all areas
According to the SWS, the five point rise in Duterte from overall net satisfaction rating, comparing the December 2021 and April 2022 results, was “due to increases in all areas.”
He stayed “very good” in Balance Luzon up by four points from +56 to +60, while also “very good” in the Visayas, up by 10 points from +45 to +55.
Meanwhile, Duterte stayed “excellent” in Mindanao, up by three points from +80 to +83.
Duterte’s urban net satisfaction also remained “very good” +64 from December 2021 to April 2022, while his rural net satisfaction stayed “very good,” up by nine points from +56 to +65.
Meanwhile, the survey also reported 46 percent of adult Filipinos saying the Philippine economy will improve or termed by SWS as “economic optimists,” 28 percent saying it will stay the same or “neutral,” and 6 percent saying it will worsen or “ economic pessimists” in the next 12 months.
Duterte’s net satisfaction rating is higher among economic optimists +69 and among those “neutral” +62 than among economic pessimists, according to the survey.
“Compared to December 2021, President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating stayed excellent among economic optimists, up by 3 points from +66,” it added.—LDF, GMA News
