DOT's Frasco tests negative for COVID-19 but misses Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco missed the 20th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day and the 123rd Anniversary of the historic Siege of Baler due to a cold, but clarified she tested negative for COVID-19.

"[L]ast night (Friday) I manifested symptoms of a cold, but I have tested negative for COVID-19," Frasco told GMA News Online in a text message.

Frasco was supposed to join Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas Sanchez in the wreath-laying rites at the Baler Church.

Sanchez said the event highlights the linkages, cultural heritage and real friendship between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Spain.

Senator Sonny Angara, Baler Mayor Rhett Ronan Angara, Aurora Representative Rommel Angara and DOT Regional Director Carolina Uy attended the event, together with National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairman Rene Escalante and 703rd Agila Brigade commander Colonel Joseph Norwin Pasamonte.

Angara, who served as Aurora Representative from 2004 to 2013, lauded the Spanish Government for its COVID-19 pandemic assistance and for supporting the country's various programs and projects. — DVM, GMA News
