Ex-BFAR chief denies link to agri smuggling

Former Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) director Eduardo Gongona denied allegations he was part of a large scale smuggling of agricultural products in the country, according to a report on “24 Oras."

Gongona was among the personalities identified as alleged protector and smuggler of agricultural products in a Senate Committee of the Whole report on the illegal activity.

He questioned why he was accused of being involved in the smuggling when the Senate hearings did not cover the topic of fisheries.

The ex-BFAR chief said he wrote to ask for clarification on the allegation.

Gongona further said he was not aware of any possible motives for him to be linked to the controversy.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA News
