Marcos gives Cabinet execs free hand to streamline offices
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said he instructed his Cabinet members to streamline their processes as he also gives the officials "free hand" in handling the agencies.
In his first press conference since his inauguration on June 30, Marcos shared to the media matters discussed on the first Cabinet meeting. He emphasized that his Cabinet wants to "streamline the government" in order to provide better service to the public.
"In the Cabinet meeting today, parang ganoon din eh, we talked about immediate concerns and we talked about long term concerns because that is, we have been very... we're trying... as we attend to immediate concerns, we are also trying to streamline the government so its function is better, its function is much more efficient and more... easier for the public as they have to do business with the government... that it is easier and simpler, and safer, and more secured to do...." said Marcos.
"I think that I want to make sure that every department, every agency has already the plan in mind para coordinated naman ang ating Cabinet secretaries with each other," Marcos added.
Marcos stressed that the government is interconnected, saying that "everything that's done on one hand affects the government in another place."
He allowed his Cabinet members to decide if they want to change the structure of the government agencies and departments, however, this must be done soon.
"Let's get our bureaucracy streamlined. I gave them... a relatively free hand in deciding who you want to hire and how you want to change the structure of your department if indeed that's what you want to do, but do it soon because we have work to do and we have to go to work immediately," he said.
Marcos, meanwhile, said he is eyeing to have two Cabinet meeting per week as "it's important to me that the entire Cabinet understands what it is we are trying to do, how we're going to do it, what the timetable is, and how it all fits together."—LDF, GMA News
