Marcos family, Sara Duterte, VIPs now at National Museum for Marcos inauguration

Members of the Marcos family, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte and several VIPs are now at the National Museum for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Wearing a detailed white terno, Duterte, Marcos' running mate in the 2022 polls, arrived at the National Museum for the ceremony. She already took her oath in Davao City last June 19.

Still showing her fashion style, the mother of the incoming president and former First Lady Imelda Marcos is donning a powder blue terno at her son's oath-taking this noon.

Other members of the Marcos family, including Senator Imee Marcos, the president's sister, have also arrived at the venue.

The members of the incoming First Family, Liza Araneta-Marcos, Ilocos Norte Representative-elect Sandro Marcos, Simon Marcos, and Vincent Marcos, are also seen at the venue.

Former Presidents Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo are also in attendance to welcome the incoming chief executive.

Also seen at the National Museum was outgoing Senate President Vicente Sotto III to read the Certificate of Proclamation during the ceremony.

Traditionally, Senate presidents are tasked to read the Certificate of Proclamation before the actual oath-taking of the incoming president.

Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sherwin Gatchalian and Senator-elect Jinggoy Estrada were also seen at the National Museum. All three ran their 2022 senatorial bids under the Marcos-Duterte banner.

Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia was among the guests who attended the inauguration.

Foreign dignitaries from different states across the globe were also there to witness the event, including US Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, the husband of US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Before going to the National Museum, Marcos went to the Malacañang Palace for the symbolic departure of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, Sara's father. — RSJ, GMA News
