Rehearsal for parade for Marcos inauguration in full swing
As part of the preparations for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., a final technical and dress rehearsal for the military and civic parade was held on Wednesday.
The rehearsal was conducted on Padre Burgos Avenue in Manila, right in front of the National Museum, the venue for Marcos' oath-taking on Thursday, June 30.
Armored military vehicles, soldiers, street sweepers, and supporters were seen taking part in the rehearsal.
Marcos' inauguration as the 17th president of the Philippines will be solemn and simple, his camp said on Tuesday.
Television host Toni Gonzaga will sing the Philippine National Anthem while the inauguration song, "Pilipinas Kong Mahal," will be performed by singer Cris Villonco and the Young Voices of the Philippines Choir.
Marcos will take the oath to be administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.
There will also be an ecumenical invocation.
The 30-minute military-civil parade will be participated in by 2,213 security personnel coming from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police, according to Joint Task Force National Capital Region commander Brigadier General Marceliano Teofilo.
They will be joined by cadets from the Philippine Military Academy and Philippine National Police Academy as well as regular and special troops.
The parade will also include a flyby of military air assets such as planes and choppers. —KG, GMA News
