NCR, other areas placed under Alert Level 1 until June 30, 2022
The Inter-Agency Task Force of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved recommendations to place the National Capital Region and several other areas under Alert Level 1 from June 16 to June 30.
The IATF made the decision despite the reported increases in the number of COVID-19 cases in the NCR and other location over the past days.
The OCTA Research group expects the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide on Wednesday to hit 450 to 500, with 250 of those coming from the NCR.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said the single-day positivity rate in NCR had increased to 4%.
The Department of Health (DOH), on the other hand, warned of a possible increase in severe and critical COVID-19 cases by August, citing the waning immunity of the public.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the country’s severe and critical cases were currently stable and hospitals were not overwhelmed.
She said there was waning immunity due to the slow uptake of booster shots.
The Philippines logged 257 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,693,865, according to the latest data released by DOH.
