Marcos to attend APEC Summit in Thailand this November
President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Thailand this November, his office said on Wednesday.
Marcos was personally invited by Thai Chargé d’ Affaires Thawat Sumitmo to the APEC Summit to be held on November 18 to 19.
According to the Marcos' office, the Thailand government invited him during the courtesy call of ASEAN Ambassadors last June 6.
Thailand will host this year's APEC Summit with the aim to focus on the importance of facilitating the resumption of safe and convenient cross-border travel to hasten the region's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to APEC 2022 website, the traditional physical meeting would resume during Thailand’s host year.
The Summit's theme for 2022 is "to make APEC open to all opportunities, connect in all dimensions, and balance in all aspects."
Established in 1989, APEC has its core value of promoting regional economic integration under a non-legally binding manner and friendly environment. —KBK, GMA News
