Marcos spent around P623M in Eleksyon 2022 —SOCE
President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday declared more than P623 million worth of expenditures in the campaign for the May 2022 elections.
Through his legal counsel, Marcos filed his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), stating a total of P623,230,176.68 worth of total expenditures incurred in the recent polls.
The SOCE indicated that Marcos had received P624,684,320.09 of contributions.
It also showed that Marcos did not spend any personal money for his campaign.
Lawyer Drixel Dabatos, a member of Marcos’ legal team, said there was no need for the former senator to spend his personal money as they had an excess in campaign donations.
“We’ll pay the income tax for that,” Dabatos told reporters.
She said the big chunk of the expenditures were used for television advertisements, political rallies, and poll watchers.
On Monday, Marcos' Partido Federal ng Pilipinas declared that it had spent P272 million for the May 2022 elections. Most of the party's expenses were for television advertisements and campaign rallies.
Section 14 of Republic Act 7166 states that "No person elected to any public offices shall enter upon the duties of his office until he has filed the statement of contributions and expenditures herein required." —KBK/RSJ, GMA News
