PNP on 'full alert' to prevent possible terror acts following Mindanao blasts
After explosions were reported in Mindanao, the Philippine National Police (PNP) across the country has been placed on full alert, its Officer-in-Charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao said on Wednesday.
Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Danao said this is to prevent possible terror attacks especially in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Bungsod po noong nangyaring bombing ng isang bus sa South Cotabato noong nakaraan, e buong kapulisan po sa buong Pilipinas ay inilagay na po natin sa full alert status,” he said.
(Due to the bombing in a bus in South Cotabato recently, we placed the entire police force in the country on full alert status.)
Danao said the police are still validating if the bombing incident in Koronadal City, South Cotabato on May 26 was done by a terrorist group as the bus owner refused to give money in an extortion attempt before.
Aside from the incident in Koronadal City, another explosion at a vacant lot was reported in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat on the same day.
On Monday, explosions also hit a parking lot near a fast-food chain and a motor pool of a bus company in Isabela City, Basilan.
Danao asked the public for their understanding as uniformed personnel have to inspect their bags in buses and train stations. —KG, GMA News
