Robredo wraps up E-Konsulta services; over 58K received help

Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday wrapped up her office's Bayanihan E-Konsulta services after assisting over 58,000 people, a month before she steps down from office.

In a tweet, Robredo announced the last day of the free telemedicine platform of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) launched in April 2021 to help patients of COVID-19 and other diseases get medical attention through tele-consultation.

“Huling araw ngayon ng ating Bayanihan E-Konsulta initiative. Since we launched the program in April 2021, we have assisted more than 58,000 cases—both COVID and non-COVID patients,” she said.

She also paid tribute to all the volunteers for the initiative that included 947 doctors and 1,761 call or chat agents.

“Lubos ang aking pasasalamat sa lahat ng nakasama natin: sa ating volunteer doctors, call/chat agents, EMS teams, and to my OVP family. At sa lahat ng mga kababayan na ating natulungan sa Bayanihan E-Konsulta, malaking karangalan po para sa amin na kayo ay mapaglingkuran,” she said.

Aside from free telemedicine services, the Bayanihan E-Konsulta also provided free COVID-19 care kits which included medicines, vitamins, thermometer, box of facemask, oximeter, disinfectant, and alcohol.

Robredo has started packing her belongings from her office in Quezon City as her term nears its end. She shared photos on Facebook of stacks of boxes filling the corners of the office, which she said were souvenirs in her six years as vice president.

Robredo trailed behind President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections’ presidential race with 14 million votes as compared to the former senator’s over 31 million votes.

The OVP on Monday said Robredo’s team would be meeting with that of Duterte to ensure smooth transition of power. Robredo tasked her chief of staff, Undersecretary Philip Dy, to get in touch directly with Duterte's team to set the transition. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA News
