Philippines logs 199 new COVID-19 cases; active tally up at 2,323


The Philippines on Thursday registered 199 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the nationwide tally to 3,689,656.

The new infections brought the country’s active case count at 2,323 from 2,257 on Wednesday, according to the Department of Health’s latest data.

No new COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the last five days while a total of 3,626,878 people have been counted as recoveries from the virus.

The regions with the most new cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 995, followed by Region 4-A with 349, and Region 3 with 274.

The Health department said at least 20,928 individuals were tested, while 327 testing labs submitted data on May 25.

It noted that the bed occupancy in the country was 17.5%, with 5,431 beds occupied, while 25,534 vacant.

On Monday, the DOH said the country and most of its regions remain under the minimal risk case classification against COVID-19 despite the reported local transmission of the Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1.—LDF, GMA News
