PCOO to mount Duterte Legacy Summit featuring gov't accomplishments

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) will hold a Duterte Legacy Summit on May 30 to 31 to tout the accomplishments of President Rodrigo  Duterte's administration.

In a statement, the PCOO said the Duterte Legacy Summit  to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) will be based on the government’s 10-point socioeconomic agenda namely: Security, Justice, and Peace, Infrastructure Development, Economic Development, Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation, and Disaster Risk Reduction, Participatory Governance, and Human Development and Poverty Reduction.

The PCOO said President Duterte is expected to deliver a video message, while Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will deliver the keynote speech.

Cabinet Secretary Melvin Matibag will give the closing remarks.

“The two-day event will be our last act of thanking and recognizing the ‘tapang at malasakit’ governance of President Rodrigo Duterte, his Cabinet members, and all public servants who brought impactful changes and meaningful development to the Filipino people,” PCOO Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said.

“This summit will promote the landmark programs and achievements of the Duterte administration in all sectors of the community,” he added.

A number of Cabinet officials will also present their accomplishments, policies, and projects. Beneficiaries of certain government projects and programs, on the other hand, will also share their success stories and testimonials.

The summit will also feature key campaign promises of the Duterte administration that come to fruition namely: the Universal Health Care Law and Malasakit Center, Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education, Bangsamoro Organic Law, anti-illegal drugs campaign, and migrant workers’ protection.

The PCOO and the Bureau of Communications Services (BCS) will also have a Duterte Legacy Photo Exhibit featuring significant and momentous events made by the administration since July 2016.

The PCOO already launched the Duterte Legacy campaign back in January 2020 to highlight the accomplishments of the Duterte administration and the experience of those who benefited from government programs.

As part of the campaign, the agency conducted caravans, town hall meetings in different provinces, and produced short documentaries, publications, and other digital campaign materials.
