767 cops receive Order of Lapu-Lapu for Marawi liberation
A total of 767 personnel of the Philippine National Police received Monday the Order of Lapu-Lapu Rank of Kamagi for their roles in the liberation of Marawi City in 2017.
In a statement, the PNP said officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr presented the award to the cops during a ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
“These awardees especially those who came from Marawi City really sacrificed themselves even in the risk of leaving their families just to protect our country," Danao said.
The PNP said 708 of them are still active while 59 are no longer in the service, either retired or dead.
Some awardees received the award in different police regional offices.
There were 819 recipients of the Order of Lapu-Lapu Rank of Kamagi and 52 of them were already awarded in 2017, according to the PNP.
The awarding is in virtue of the Executive Order No. 35 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte dated July 28, 2017.
