Robredo to fly to New York to spend time with family, attend daughter’s graduation

Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday announced that she would be flying to New York City to spend time with her family and to attend her daughter’s graduation.

Despite the trip, Robredo underscored that she would be on top of the preparations for the launch of the Angat Buhay program, a non-government organization composed mostly of volunteers who ran her campaign during this year’s elections.

“We will be gone for a few days to just spend time with family and take a well-deserved rest before all of us restart the lives we have put on hold. This is the first time since my husband died in 2012 that we will be traveling again as a family with no work to take care of,” she said.

“We are sorry if we cannot accept the numerous requests for meet-ups. We will do that some other time in the future. For now, we just need to spend as much time together,” she added.

Robredo said the Office of the Vice President is also making preparations for the official turnover of the office.

Robredo has 14,822,051 votes compared to former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s 31,104,175 votes based on the partial unofficial tally as of May 13.

Senator Kiko Pangilinan, meanwhile, received 9,232,883 votes to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio 31,561,948. — DVM, GMA News
